The Mile High City scores miles above other cities in the Hotwire Travel Value Index, a survey of the cities that offer the best travel discounts, low rates and affordable entertainment and outdoor attractions.
Denver earns the top spot because of its zoo and its proximity to the Rocky Mountains, and because its possible for travelers to stay in 4-star hotels for less than $100 per night.
Other cities that also do well by tourists include Greenville- Spartanburg, South Carolina; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; and Knoxville, Tennessee.
But not all cities are as good a value, such as the area around Florence and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which came in No. 50 on the 50-city list.
