Rush Guitarist Alex Lifeson Gets Musical Inspiration From Grandson

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Rock music is supposed to be for the young, so maybe it makes sense that Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson is inspired by his grandson.

Lifeson became a grandad a year ago and says he spends a lot of time taking the boy to toddler music classes.

Although none of the kids learn tunes like “Tom Sawyer” or “Fly By Night,” Lifeson says he picks up some ideas watching the kids bang instruments and vocalize.

It’s paid off for grandfather and grandchild. Lifeson says the boy “sings a lot around the house” and he has been inspired with some new ideas that may influence future band recordings.

In the meantime, Lifeson is still looking at the past. The band has just released Rush-R30, a multi-CD and DVD package featuring concert recordings and interviews saluting the band’s last 30 years.
