Eighty-Seven-Year-Old Man Uses Pilates To Improve His Marathon Time

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The last time 87-year-old Julian Myers ran a marathon, he came in last place, but this Sunday (Dec. 4) in Las Vegas, it’s going to be different.

Julian Myers, a longtime Hollywood publicist, says he did the LA marathon in 16-1/2 hours and he had to run through a makeshift finish line of toilet paper put up by his granddaughter and her boyfriend.

Myers says he’s been training every day for the Las Vegas marathon and he’s added in “six pilates sessions to get me in shape and loosen me up.”

He doesn’t think there will be any need for toilet paper this time, because, he says, “I think I’ll do it in ten hours.”

Myers is in the 85-99 age group and guesses he’ll be the oldest person running. He says the real reason he’s doing the marathon is to promote the holiday he created, called Amigo Day.

He wants people to celebrate friendship the first Sunday of every month, and points out, “If I want Amigo Day to be as big as Mother’s Day I have to do something.”
