Modern Ballplayers Running Up Top Baseball Lists

ST. LOUIS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The battles over who are the best baseball players are never settled, but the staff of the Sporting News is taking a swing at it with a new book, Baseball’s 100 Greatest Players (Sporting News Books).

Editor John Rawlings says the writing staff waited until the last moment of the baseball season before making final rankings just in case Roger Clemens did something to move himself up further in the overall ranking.

Now, the Rocket ranks in at No. 15, while Barry Bonds is at No. 6 “despite missing the entire season.”

Rawlings expects the list to change in future editions thanks to newer players like Albert Pujols, who just missed the cut-off date for qualification.

However, Rawlings figures the ratings will be readjusted in the future and players like Sammy Sosa, who is currently No. 97 – will be dropped from future lists.
