Thats according to the wife of the creator of The Tonight Show, Jayne Meadows-Allen, who says before her husband started the late night format, nobody stayed up watching TV, they went to bed instead.
Like many others these days, Meadows is one of the many losing sleep over late night TV, to which she says shes addicted.
In her words, Its like eating peanuts. I cant stop watching TV late at night.
But if the sleep loss is making you cranky, Meadows says, We can acclimate ourselves...Old people can take a nap.
Meadows is talking about her late night life because of a new book Inventing Late Night (Prometheus) written by Ben Alba that details Allens invention.
