Actress Jayne Meadows-Allen attended the funeral for Adams and says it was also a mini-tribute to her late husband, first host of The Tonight Show, who died October 30, 2000.
She says classic comedians like Bob Newhart and Don Rickles either told a story that involved her husband, or showed film footage of Adams that came from Allens TV show.
Meadows says Newhart recounted when he was just starting out as a comedy writer, he tried to sell some jokes to Adams.
However, Adams told him I dont buy jokes, but leave them and Ill look them over.
A few weeks later he saw Adams on Allens Tonight Show using his jokes.
Meadows is also happy over another tribute to her husband: a new book called Inventing Late Night (Prometheus) which details how Allen created the late night TV talk show format that has been copied by todays legends David Letterman and Jay Leno.
