Fur Is Flying With Linda Blair Over Abandoned Animals Of The Gulf Coast

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Exorcist star Linda Blair is turning heads with a new campaign to rescue the animals of the Gulf Coast that were left behind in the evacuation from Hurricane Katrina.

Blair will be flying to the region this Sunday (Sep. 25) to spread the word that some 40,000 pets that were abandoned may still be alive, and volunteers are needed to come into the area and rescue them.

She’s also campaigning to see a policy established that would require dog owners who come to claim Pit Bulls at animal shelters give their fingerprint as identification.

The reason: Blair says, “Louisiana is the biggest dog fighting state there is.” She fears members of underground dog fighting rings may try and claim the Pit Bulls – which she says are gentle if they aren’t abused – as their own and force them to fight.

The humans may have been rescued from Katrina, but Blair says, “We’re still in a crisis.”
