It’s Good Not To Be ‘Earl’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Ethan Suplee is happy to be starring in the new NBC series, My Name Is Earl, but he’s even happier he’s not playing the title character, Earl.

Suplee says playing Randy, brother to Jason Lee’s character Earl, is like having “all the benefits without the stress.”

He says that even if the series bombs, he’ll find some relief in the fact that “The show is called My Name Is Earl, and my name is NOT Earl.”

No matter what the ratings or reviews are, Suplee says he’s had a blast working with his old pal Lee – they auditioned together for Mallrats – and that he particularly enjoyed “popping and locking” while filming a dance scene in a gay club.

Suplee says he’s also proud to have perfected his trailer park accent, adding, “Fresno is great for research.”

My Name is Earl premieres Sept. 20 on NBC.
