As he puts it, There are so few Aussies in compared to, say, even California, so we always feel part of an exclusive club whenever we meet outside of the country.
He says he can feel the camaraderie with INXS because they smile when he says Gday.
But while Ayesas Aussie upbringing allows him to have a shorthand with the band, he thinks his Filipino background is what will allow him to lead them in a new direction.
In his words, Filipinos consider themselves the blacks of Asia because theyre always hip and happening, and everyone enjoys singing. Thats why karaoke first took off in the Philippines.
So if Ayesa does become lead singer, how might his heritage affect the bands music? Well, he says the Filipinos are suckers for ballads more than rock and promises to bring a sense of melody to the band.
