Skin Care Company Spices Things Up With Wasabi

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The next time you smear wasabi on your sushi, you might consider smearing some on your face.

That’s because a San Diego-based skin care company uses an extract of the Japanese horseradish in their anti-aging products.

Dr. Dieter Kuster, founder and chief chemist of CA Botana, says wasabi has a high concentration of potassium, calcium and Vitamin C and has anti-oxidant, anti-microbial and anti- inflammatory properties and claims their moisturizers and facial scrubs protect against environmental pollutions.

Although the mashed green root is spicy on the tongue, wasabi doesn’t burn on the face.

Dr. Kuster says there’s no tingling or burning sensation, adding, “Putting alcohol on your face would tingle more.”
