Lock Picker Unlocks New Picking Method

DETROIT, Mich. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A Detroit, Michigan, locksmith has unlocked the secret to a new way of picking locks.

Eddie the Wire – as he prefers to be called – has created a new sickle-shaped lock pick that he claims cuts the time to pick a lock by 20 percent and “makes impossible opens possible.”

Eddie says it started when he made a copy of a pick allegedly used by Harry Houdini, but in his words, “It didn’t work at all.”

That’s when Eddie began tinkering with it and came up with the design he calls “Eddie’s Iron,” which also happens to be the name of his new book published by Loompanics, that details how to make the pick.

Eddie says, “It sounds hokey to say, but I almost didn’t write the book because it makes difficult lock- picking easy.”

But have no fear. Eddie says his design won’t set off a crime wave because, as he puts it, “only .03 percent of forced entries are used doing skillful lock-picking tricks.”
