Cloney Awards Make An Impression On Celebrity Impersonators

LAS VEGAS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Celebrity Impersonators should be making a big impression next month in Las Vegas thanks to an event called the Cloney Awards.

The Cloneys are put on by the International Guild of Celebrity Impersonators and Tribute Artists (IGCITA) to honor the best look-alikes, sound-alikes and “act-alikes” in showbiz.

This year, the Cloneys take place Aug. 10 in Las Vegas and IGCITA president Fil Jessee expects 100 impressionists, impersonators and tribute artists to attend.

Award categories include “Most Outstanding Tribute Band,” “Best Historical Impersonation” and a special award will be given to E! Entertainment Television for their use of celebrity impersonator Michael Moss during their reenactments of the Michael Jackson trial.

Although the awards ceremony features performances by top impersonators, the highlight may be the acceptance speeches. Jessee says many winners accept their Cloneys as the celebrity – or celebrities – they’re famous for impersonating.
