Maria McKee Making A Play For The Theater Stage

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Alt-country rocker Maria McKee just released her first studio album in three years, but she’s also making a play for the stage.

The former Lone Justice frontwoman is currently touring behind Peddlin’ Dreams, but she’s spent as much time in the last few years working on a play as she has on her songs.

Now, she’s finished the work, tentatively titled TV Teen, and says it’s an autobiographical play about a young woman in the “slums of Beverly Hills,” who has to watch over her bipolar older brother.

McKee is shopping the play to theater companies all over America in hopes of getting it produced but says just finishing it was an accomplishment and, in her words, “One of the greatest moments of my life was going to Kinkos with a CD and watching the play being printed onto paper for the first time.”

No word on if and when TV Teen will be produced but it will have to wait until McKee is done touring because she purposely wrote a role for herself.
