Duke, West Virginia Have Most Obnoxious College Sports Fans

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – While Duke, West Virginia and Minnesota are in the NCAA college basketball tournament, they may want to leave their fans at home.

That’s because the schools have been named to the top 10 list of universities that have the “most obnoxious college sports fans” by GQ magazine.

The men’s fashion magazine says Duke’s basketball fans – The Cameron Crazies – are too much like Clay Aiken: “too geeky, too cute and terminally annoying.”

Meanwhile, West Virginia’s fans are tabbed “college- sports version of soccer hooligans” as they have intentionally lit more than 1,000 street fires after games in the last eight years.

Finally, fanatics of Minnesota’s athletic programs make the list for waging two full-blown riots and causing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage after their college team won the NCAA hockey championship in 2002 and 2003.

Ohio State, Harvard, Washington State, Maryland, Florida State, Vanderbilt, and Colorado round out the list.
