Gun-Free Thompson Memorial To Be Held In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – San Francisco grabbed the heart of Tony Bennett and it has also inspired the writing of Hunter S. Thompson.

Now Thompson’s Bay Area fans are doing their part to honor him by holding one of the first memorials to Thompson in an event called Vicious Bulls■■t: A Hallucinatory Wake in Honor of the late Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, which will be held March 10.

Event spokesman Patrick Hughes admits they won’t actually try to wake the dead spirit of the journalist, but instead, both literary colleagues of Thompson and those inspired by him will speak and share anecdotes about the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas author.

In Hughes’ words, “We want to make sure he gets a proper San Francisco send off before they stick his typewriter under glass and sell off all his memorabilia on eBay.”

Although no one will be “shooting guns into the air,” Hughes figures Thompson would approve of the toast and will enjoy seeing “his friends get drunk and speak good words of him.”
