Female Rapper Rhyming Up Respect For The Ladies

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Female rappers are few and far between these days, but one flowing lady lyricist is making a name for herself in the male-dominated genre.

Remy Ma – a member of the Terror Group – is the only female rapper to snag a Grammy nod for 2004, which came as a shock to the 23-year-old, who says she “didn’t have a clue” what she wanted to do when she was younger.

Ma says, “Every little girl wanted to be an actress or a singer, but I never had those dreams.”

Now, though, the New York-based rapper says, “I can’t see myself doing anything else.”

It has been hard for Remy Ma to look to other female rappers of the past and present for inspiration because “there’s not a lot of them.”

Still, she is focused on what she can do for future aspiring female rappers and ultimately, “help them and I get the same respect the male rappers get.”

Remy Ma will take her first step to respect with the release of her debut album, There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Store, slated to hit stores this summer.
