2005 A Productive Year For Raphael Saadiq

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – 2005 has barely begun but Grammy-winning singer/producer Raphael Saadiq already knows it’s going to be a productive year.

Saadiq is preparing to shoot a video for his new single, “I Want You Back” from his latest album, Raphael Saadiq As Ray Ray, and he’s also working on various projects with D’Angelo, Earth, Wind And Fire and Mary J. Blige.

On top of that, Saadiq is also finishing up his next solo record, a compilation of five years’ worth of unreleased tracks featuring Erykah Badu, Ginuwine, TLC and Kelis.

Saadiq admits his schedule is tight but he finds ways to work on his own music even when producing other artists.

In his words, “I may be working with someone like Mary J. but I’ll tell her, ‘Hey, I got this other track. Would you mind singing on it?’”

Even when Saadiq gets some spare time, he can’t help but make music. As he puts it, “I was recently locked out of my house for four hours and I spent the time listening to the train tracks and writing a song about it.”
