Mixtapes Turn Strangers Into Friends
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 17:16 GMT
SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) A good mixtape can bridge the gap between strangers.Anyone who attends the San Francisco Mixtape Societys shindig at The Make-Out Room this Sunday (Apr. 4) wont just walk out with a collection of tunes, but maybe with a new best friend.
Attendees must bring a mix CD, tape, or MP3 revolving around the theme Fools Rush In, which can be interpreted in any way.
Theyll trade mixes with one another at the party in a random lottery-style drawing.
Spokesperson Annie Lin says this presents the perfect opportunity for making new friends because people often talk and hang out after trading, turning complete strangers into buddies.
Though there are no guidelines for mixtapes, creative director John Verrochi says they should be more than just 50 songs with the word fool in the title.
Creativity counts for a lot, with the coolest mix and packaging winning a special prize.
