Pierogis Unite All Cultures

MINNEAPOLIS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Seems unlikely, but a little pocket of food can bring different cultures together.

Artist Jeff Lohaus is creating world peace by building a 17- foot brass and marble sculpture of a pierogi sitting atop of fork for The Pierogi Project.

He’s received funding for the sculpture and has the enthusiastic support of his community, mainly because of the message he’s sending with his tribute to pierogis.

Lohaus explains, “The idea of the sculpture is to celebrate a food that is seen in different cultures. A lot of foods around the world are similar to pierogis, like empanadas and samosas.”

Every name used for the food will be engraved into the art piece so that anyone from any culture can feel connected.

Once it’s finished this summer, Lohaus thinks it’ll help bring people together in peaceful harmony. He’s already received many thanks from locals.
