`Winnie The Pooh' Fans In Sticky Situation

Pooh Bear's game is all about luck

Pooh Bear's game is all about luck

OXFORDSHIRE, England (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Winnie The Pooh’s favorite pastime is landing folks in a sticky situation.

This Sunday (Mar. 28), the Rotary Club of Oxford Spires in Oxfordshire, England, will hold their 26th Annual “World Pooh Sticks Championships” on the River Thames.

The club fundraiser pays homage to the simple game of “Pooh Sticks” created by Pooh Bear and his pals, where one drops a stick into a river from a bridge. The person whose stick emerges first from the water on the other side wins.

Organizer Liz Williamson says Pooh Sticks is a game of luck over skill. In fact, they’ve never had a repeat champ.

Some people believe dropping the stick in horizontally is best because it floats away faster, but the strategy is debatable.

One thing’s for sure though: Throwing your stick in isn’t allowed, it must be dropped gently.

Pooh once accused Tigger of throwing his stick in “all twitchy,” so that method is frowned upon.
