SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) Barbies nerdy new job may influence a generation of hot, young computer geeks.Mattels newest Barbie is now a computer engineer a career that was chosen by online voters.
Tech-loving Barbie sports a Bluetooth, a shirt covered in binary numbers and computers, a jacket patterned with circuits, and carries a bright pink laptop.
According to proud nerd Jason Chen, editor of the geeky gadget site Gizmodo.com, Barbies outfit doesnt match a techie at all.
He says, Its more like a nerd that really wants to be a techie. Very few real techies would go this crazy.
Despite Barbie being a total poser, Chen believes the doll will help little girls see that computer engineering is a viable profession.
He adds, Anything to get more girls involved with technology is a plus. If this makes girls want to grow up and be hot computer engineers, Im all for it.
