Man Lives Civil War Style

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One Pennsylvania man is going back in time seven score and nine years ago.

Brett Kelley of the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is living the life of a Civil War soldier for two weeks straight to promote and raise money for the museum starting February 6.

Dressed head to toe in Union garb, he’ll only the use tools and foods that were available to soldiers in that era, build fencing and trenches, sleep in a Civil War tent, and march 10 miles every few days.

Kelley is a former Marine and as curator, knows a lot about the Civil War.

Still, he admits the project is going to be tough.

He says, “I know a lot but I’ve never lived it. And in the Marines I used modern equipment. Plus, I’m a TV junkie. I’m hooked on every show in existence, so that’s gonna be a challenge.”
