This Thursday (Jan. 14) through Sunday (Jan. 17), the annual River Walk Mud Festival is rolling into San Antonio, Texas.
The party celebrates the cleaning of a local river that gets drained each year.
Though the fest doesnt get as muddy as it used to, attendees still get down and dirty.
Event organizer Macie Hernandez says many show up in wacky costumes, including pig outfits.
Hired belly dancers keep the party going, as well as locals competing for the titles of Mud King and Queen, talking a little trash before votes are tallied.
Because the fest is now held once the river is filled back up, not much mud-slinging happens.
Back in the day, theyd have the party right after the river was drained, making the venue a truly muddy mess.
