Gallery Becomes Soccer Field

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An art gallery in San Francisco is scoring with soccer fans.

The Worth Ryder Gallery is turning into a mini soccer stadium with their latest exhibit, Come Play Soccer in the Gallery!, where people can do just that, starting today (Nov. 4) through November 14.

Artist Miguel Arzabe enlisted the help of his students to convert the space into an artistic replica of his old basement back home in Ohio, where he and his brother would play one-on-one soccer and re-enact their favorite moments from the 1986 World Cup, much to their mother’s annoyance.

Arzabe decided to use the empty gallery to relive those times, and notes, “It’s strange for me to bring back memories from the basement.”

The games that take place in the gallery will be videotaped on VHS and replayed, and Arzabe says it’ll be fun for people to play in a space they’re not normally allowed to run around in.
