The Oscar-winning actor stars in the TNT drama Leverage, premiering its second season tonight (Jul. 15), as the mastermind behind a team of scam artists who exact revenge against those who use power and wealth to screw over innocent people.
Though he loves seeing “the hustlers get hustled” on his show, that’s about as far as Hutton’s vengeance goes.
He’s never gotten revenge on someone who’s personally done him wrong, though he wishes there was a Leverage-type team to go after shady family members who repeatedly swindle others.
Hutton thinks the revenge drama strikes a chord with viewers since so many feel like they’ve been wronged by corporations like AIG, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac.
By doing episodes that are “ripped from the headlines,” Hutton says the show stays current and quenches viewers’ thirst for revenge.
