Crazy Costumes Improve Runner’s Stride

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Wearing a wacky costume can make a seven-mile run a lot more fun.

This Sunday (May 17), one of San Francisco’s craziest, longest running traditions is bringing out the spirit of the city: The 98th Annual ING Bay To Breakers 12k Marathon.

Participants from all over the world will don their most out- of-control costumes and run through the streets of the Bay City.

In the past, runners have worn sailor suits, pirate costumes, and one woman even dressed up like a painting with frame and all.

Spokesperson Vivian Doan says the “electric” atmosphere gets runners going and unites everyone at the event, including athletes, amateur participants, and rowdy spectators.

Though a truly tacky and wacky costume turns heads, Doan says anything too bulky can get in the way, especially when the course takes people up some of San Fran’s steepest streets.
