Man Unintentionally Becomes Paul Newman’s Stalker

PORTLAND, Ore. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Biographers and stalkers have a lot more in common than you think.

That’s the strange thing Shawn Levy discovered while researching legendary actor Paul Newman for his biography, Paul Newman: A Life (Harmony Books).

Levy says his entire office was covered in Newman memorabilia and personal objects, including photos, his birth certificate, and college application, and says he’d think about the Hollywood icon all day.

He explains, “Newman was haunting my dreams. I would begin hearing conversations with him in my head in crazy ways. The word stalker has a lot of implications but I’m sure stalkers have similar moments when they think they’re talking to the object of their fetish.”

Levy doesn’t expect his Newman obsession to go away anytime soon, since, as he puts it, “You live with your subjects long after you write about them because they live on bookshelves forever.”

Paul Newman: A Life is out now.
