Art Show Brings Together Missed Connections

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One artist is connecting long lost lovers that never got the chance to let love bloom.

Those who’ve ever seen a cute guy or girl out on the street and wondered “What if?” can get connected with artist Claudia Tennyson’s exhibition Missed Connections, running now through Saturday (Apr. 18) at the Climate Theater in San Francisco.

For the show, Tennyson took ads posted on the “Missed Connections” section on Craigslist, where lonely hearts reach out to the people they had a brief or even non-interactive encounter with, and embroidered their messages on thrift store clothes so as to literally put these people’s hearts on their sleeves.

She says, “I wanted to create a memento honoring these experiences, especially knowing that these people will probably never find each other. It’s all very vaguely hopeful.”

Tennyson is playing matchmaker by inviting those whose ads she used to the exhibit to give them the chance to find the one that got away, or make a new connection with a fellow lovelorn individual.
