Though General Motors is facing bankruptcy, the carmaker is teaming up with Segway to roll out a two-wheeled, electric- powered vehicle for city commuters.
The PUMA Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility vehicle works something like the stand-and-lean one-person Segway, except you get to sit, theres room for two, and you hit 35 MPH.
Buck Wolf of About.coms Weird News Central is reporting from the New York International Auto Show this week, and was among the reporters there for the PUMA unveiling.
He says, The Segway was probably the most over-hyped vehicle ever. But this thing goes three times as fast, and theres enough room to carry your spouse or a bag of donuts and coffee, whichever you prefer.
GM sees PUMA unclogging the streets as early as 2012. Whether the company is still in business to see that happen is another matter.
