Home Is Where The Danger Is

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – This week (Mar. 22-28) is National Cleaning Week, but tidying up your home could be hazardous to your health.

According to a survey by Seventh Generation – the world’s most trusted brand of authentic, safe, and environmentally-friendly products for the home – more than 58 percent of adults don’t check the labels of their home cleaning products for harmful ingredients, even though 58 percent use cleaning solutions once a week on surfaces.

The average American home has 63 hazardous chemical products within arm’s reach, and 70 percent of parents with kids under the age of six store their toxic products under the sink.

This means more than 50 percent of human poison exposure victims are kids under six years old, since they’re coming into contact with harmful chemicals from cleaners on a daily basis.

Luckily, Seventh Generation is cleaning house through a resource called Healthy eHome on WebMD.com, which helps point out the potential dangers and hazards in your home and gives tips on creating a cleaner, greener lifestyle.
