‘Amazing Race’ Rejects Don’t Fear Bears

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Bear attacks can occur at any moment.

That’s the lesson Amazing Race contestant Kris Klicka learned many years ago when he was almost attacked by a bear while fly fishing in the Alaskan wilderness with his family.

He recalls, “My dad yelled out, ‘Hey, Kris. Don’t move!’ I turned around and there was a huge bear three feet away from me on its hind legs. Being 12 years old and scared, I said ‘screw it’ and ran anyway, but nothing happened.”

While competing on the reality race with his girlfriend, Amanda Blackledge, Klicka kept an eye out for wild bears, but assures, “I don’t have bear fears.”

The couple, who were eliminated from the show this past Sunday (Mar. 9), were happy to, as Klicka puts it, “Travel the entire world on someone else’s dime.”

Adds Blackledge, “It brought us closer together and is something we can tell our children about.”

The Amazing Race airs Sundays on CBS.
