‘Pageant God’ Defends Child Beauty Queens

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – According to the self- proclaimed “God” of pageants, putting a kid in beauty pageants is healthy.

Michael Galanes is a renowned pageant director whose pageants served as inspiration for the film Little Miss Sunshine.

He stars in a new docu-series called Little Miss Perfect, premiering Wednesday (Feb. 18) on WEtv, which explores the world of junior beauty pageants.

According to Galanes – who’s a “God” in the pageant circuit – the beauty competitions yield healthy little girls who are ready to conquer the world.

He argues that pageants give kids great self-confidence, communication skills, and an “outlet to have fun.”

The girls get to live like a little princess, which drives them to bigger and better things.

After 20 years in the pageant business, Galanes has seen beauty queens become everything from lawyers and doctors to Broadway stars.

He considers pageantry a sport, and says the pressures involved are comparable to what a little boy goes through when trying out for an all-star sports team.
