The 12th Annual Elvis Invitationals invites Elvis tribute artists from around the globe to Seattle on Saturday (Jan. 24) to compete to be crowned the king of The King impersonators.
Spokesperson Peter Verdrugge says most tribute artists go all out with their look and persona, but others have fallen flat with their imitation.
He says, Some peoples idea of a costume is to just put on a jacket. That doesnt cut it. The more sequins and gyrating, the better.
However, some strange Elvis costumes have managed to make a lasting impression.
Verdrugge recalls an older gentlemen who showed up in a raincoat with his wig on backwards, but sang his heart out, so it made his look so bad it was good.
His favorite freakish Elvis, hands down, was one tranny who came as Trans-Elvis-tite.
Verdrugge says, He/she had the best costume ever!
