Carson Daly Addicted To New Year’s Eve Countdown

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Carson Daly has been battling an addiction to New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) countdowns for more than a decade.

For the fifth year, Daly will host NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly as the ball drops in Times Square, and he admits he’s strangely addicted to the gig.

The TV personality has been hosting different New Year’s Eve specials for the past 12 years and couldn’t imagine life without his year-end countdown duties.

Daly laughs, “Even if I didn’t work on New Year’s Eve, I’d start counting down from 10 to one into a microphone wherever I was, asking if the camera was cued up.”

In fact, the one year Daly was on vacation during NBC’s New Year’s Eve show, he had major withdrawals and missed “being in the moment.”

He recalls, “I couldn’t handle not being there!”

His countdown airs New Year’s Eve on NBC and includes performances by Katy Perry, T.I., and Ludacris.
