Susie Smith came in second place on Survivor: Gabon this past Sunday (Dec. 14), taking home $500,000, but her mom was none-the-wiser.
Smiths mother, who suffers from Dementia, was surprised to see her daughter on TV every week, mainly because she couldnt remember.
Smith says, Every week shed forget and didnt know I was gonna be on TV. She would say, Why didnt you tell me you were going to be on TV?
With her second place win, Smith hopes to encourage Mexican- Americans like herself to dream of bigger and better things.
She explains, Mexicans dont just have to be field workers. Theres a lot out there for us.
Smith even credits her culture for getting her so far in the game saying, Mexicans are very giving and generous. I shared my food and blanket if people needed it, and it helped.
