Men Are Real Givers

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ladies, you may be surprised to learn that men are givers, not always takers.

The December issue of Men’s Health hits stands today (Nov. 18), and it exposes men’s giving patterns.

As it turns out, men are more generous than they let on and 27 percent consider themselves more charitable than the average dude.

Other giving guy stats include...

  • 36 percent of men say they spend one to four hours a week volunteering, while 9 percent spend five to 10 hours.

  • 46 percent volunteer to “help others,” 19 percent give their time to “do something useful,” and 13 percent genuinely enjoy the work.

  • 43 percent of dudes believe time is the most admirable volunteer contribution, after money and goods.

  • 77 percent would support a community-service requirement for high school students.

Finally, 67 percent of men say they’d rather have $10,000 donated in their name to a charitable cause instead of taking $1,000 for themselves.
