Pope Opts For Natural Remedy To Fight Flu

PORTLAND, Ore. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Even the Holy Father needs more than divine intervention to battle cold and flu season.

The International Pharmacy of Vatican City just ordered 200 bottles of natural flu remedy Sambucol Black Elderberry.

According to health expert Dr. Claire Wheeler, Sambucol – which is made from natural elderberry extract and contains high antioxidants – is a remedy fit for the Pope.

Wheeler says Sambucol is more effective at both preventing and treating the flu than other medicines.

She suggests Pope Benedict XVI take it once a day to prevent catching a cold and twice a day if he already has flu symptoms.

She says the drug is proven to shorten the duration of a flu by four days if taken, which is great for the 81-year-old Holy See because a prolonged flu can lead to pneumonia in elders.

In addition to taking Sambucol, Wheeler suggests the Pope get a flu shot, plenty of sleep, and maintain a healthy diet.

She also says he should wash his hands frequently, especially because his job requires a lot of handshaking, and avoid being around sick people.
