Rock ’N’ Roll Only Cool If Adults Hate It

NEWARK, Da. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Rock ’n’ roll music is about rebellion, and it’s only cool if adults absolutely hate it.

That’s the note from music writer Dave Thompson who has just penned I Hate New Music: The Classic Rock Manifesto (Backbeat).

Thompson says true rock doesn’t really exist anymore and today’s wannabe rock such as Radiohead or Coldplay lacks edge.

He says the use of rock in mainstream TV shows, cheesy commercials, and political campaigns has ruined the once- rebellious genre.

He explains, “When politicians, parents, and advertisers think rock is cool, it’s not cool anymore. They shouldn’t be encouraging rock ’n’ roll, they should ban it! That’s the point of rock ’n’ roll!”

Thompson says rock ’n’ roll took a “nosedive” the “minute Princess Diana started bumping Duran Duran.

He also says parents of kids in rock bands need to do their part to make the music cool again by being “petrified” of their kid’s hobby and nagging them to get a “haircut and a real job.”

I Hate New Music hits shelves this November.
