Make Friends With Your Mother-In-Law

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There are ways to get your mother-in-law on your side, even if you did steal her son.

Sunday (Oct. 26) is Mother-in-Law Day, and Sally Shields, author of The Daughter-in-Law Rules: 101 Surefire Ways to Manage (and Make Friends with) Your Mother-in-Law (Outskirts Press), has tips on getting the other woman in your man’s life to love you too.

Shields admits that a mom-in-law can turn into a monster-in- law when she feels neglected, so giving her a call just to chat will make her feel good.

Asking for advice, and actually taking it, will let her know her opinion matters to you.

However, some mother-in-laws are set in their stubborn ways.

With those, Shields says it’s best to not take her criticism personally and to focus on the positive.

Even though it may be tempting, Shields says it’s never a good idea to give your mother-in-law an earful or to try and kill her.
