Thomas M. Kostigen, author of You Are Here: Exposing the Vital Link Between What We Do and What That Does to Our Planet (HarperOne), spent years traveling the globe and witnessed how humans are slowly trashing the planet.
Kostigen visited the Eastern Garbage Patch, a landfill in the Pacific Ocean twice the size of Texas that pollutes the waters and wildlife around it.
He also toured Linfen City, China, which he calls the most polluted city on the planet.
Kostigen says, Just breathing there is like smoking a pack of cigarettes. People even walk around in face masks. Its so disturbing.
However, Kostigen says were all to blame for the bad state the Earth is in, and suffering for our irresponsibility.
Kostigen says, Were all so connected by the air we breath. The car fumes in L.A. will be breathed by someone in Scandinavia in a few days. We have to think about everything we do.
