Artists Bare It All For ‘Body Gras’

NANAIMO, B.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Art is coming to life – literally – in Nanaimo, British Columbia, today (Sep. 4) through Sunday (Sep. 7).

That’s because models will be baring it all for the first-ever Bodypainting Championships.

Spokesperson Dawn Tyndall says the event is a way for artists to show the human body as an artistic tool.

She says, “We believe the human form is to be respected, honored, and accepted, not hidden away as if there’s something wrong.”

However, to avoid breaking indecency laws, the artists will start painting their models’ unmentionables an hour early so the paint dries before they are scored on their people painting.

Artists will then have six hours to create their masterpiece and are judged on many factors, including how well they bond with their model.

Tyndall explains, “Models have to stay still and hold poses as the paint dries, so we judge the team on how well they work together. It’s about mutual respect.”
