Virtual Vacations Are Cheap And Easy

BERKELEY, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Now, there’s a way to travel from Japan to Germany to Wyoming in a matter of minutes.

Travel writer Carole Terwilliger Meyers runs webcamtraveler.com, a virtual vacation website that takes visitors to exotic locations around the world via webcams.

Cyber travelers can check out live streaming video and up-to- the-minute photos of snow monkeys in Japan, storks in Bornheim, Germany, and Old Faithful erupting in Wyoming.

Meyers says the gas-free vacation is an alternative for families who want to save money and avoid the stress of traveling.

She explains, “You don’t have to pack a suitcase or spend hours at the airport. You can also cover more ground with a virtual vacation.”

She hopes the site stimulates people to actually travel, and says the sneak peeks at hotspots could help folks decide where to go on their next getaway.

There are about 15 locations linked to the site right now, and Meyers hopes to add a new one each week.

She wants to link a webcam to Hawaii, the San Diego Zoo, and areas in Key West, Florida, where Ernest Hemingway once lived.
