‘Nashville Star’ Cast-Off Stays Busy In One-Horse Town

MAY CITY, Iowa (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One Nashville Star cast-off is a pro at keeping herself entertained.

Shawn Mayer came in third place on Nashville Star this past Monday (Aug. 4).

She really enjoyed her time on the show – because it finally gave her something to do.

She’s from the tiny town of May City, Iowa, which boasts a population of about 45 people, so growing up, she was always coming up with unique ways to keep herself entertained.

Mayer became a regular on the karaoke circuit, and performed at bars and restaurants all over town.

When she was little, she’d pass the time by impersonating Dolly Parton and putting on mini concerts for her parents, although her Dolly get-up admittedly took “a few pillows” to perfect.

But her favorite thing to do was “gravel travel” with her pals.

Mayer explains, “We’d pack a bunch of people into a truck, go down to the grain elevator, and guess each other’s weight on the scale outside. Out there we don’t need money or fancy stuff – we make fun happen wherever we go!”
