The Lumberjack World Championships is swinging into Hayward, Wisconsin, tomorrow (Jul. 25) through Sunday (Jul. 27), and event director Diane McNamer says folks shouldnt be fooled by lumberjack stereotypes.
She explains, You dont really see the Brawny Man type, with the plaid shirt and the beard here. There are a few hunky lumberjacks competing, though, and Im sure a few ladies in the crowd will be checking them out.
McNamer also says Lumberjills female lumberjacks arent all hefty, husky girls, explaining, We have slender gals, including a 20-year-old champion that youd never think was a lumberjack. Looks can be deceiving.
A 53-year-old woman from New Zealand will also be working some wood, and McNamer says the logging lady can out-chop people half her age.
No matter their age or what they look like, McNamer says all the wood-chopping champs are the best of the best and bring pride to Americas logging heritage.
