Single TV Dads Make Good Role Models

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Single dads can learn a thing or two from TV’s greatest unattached papas.

Jim O’Kane, who runs the TV dad tribute website, advises single dads to curl up on the couch with their kids and watch some of America’s favorite dads this Father’s Day (Jun. 15).

He says, “The idea of the single dad is very common in our pop culture DNA. Everyone grew up with one on TV. You can watch good and bad dads to get pointers or show your kids how good they have it with you.”

O’Kane calls Bob Saget a good role model for his portrayal of Danny Tanner, the single head of household on the sitcom Full House, and believes Andy Griffith’s character on The Andy Griffith Show is the one “guys would all like to be.”

And with hipper dateless dads coming to the small screen, like the former rock star Rufus Humphrey in the teen drama Gossip Girl, O’Kane says younger single dads also have someone to look up to.
