No More Orgies For 60s Rock ’N’ Roll Scenester

BOSTON (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Sex and drugs are a thing of the past for one legendary rocker.

Musician Al Kooper is the author of Backstage Passes & Backstabbing Bastards: Memoirs of a Rock ’N’ Roll Survivor (Backbeat Books), which chronicles his prolific career playing organ for amazing artists like Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, the Who, and the Rolling Stones.

Kooper dishes the dirt on the sex and drugs swirling around the 60s scene – including outrageous orgies – and recalls, “Los Angeles back then was like Rome with Nero. If you wanted anything, it was offered very conveniently. My drug period was very short. I went for the women.”

Now that the 60s are a hazy musical memory, Kooper is still recording, but his life has certainly slowed down.

He says, “I don’t leave the house if I don’t have to. I only leave to tour.”

Backstage Passes is out now.
