Rubick’s Cube Whiz Hosts Contest

BURLINGAME, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Solving a Rubik’s Cube is easy – with a little help.

The 2nd Annual Cubing at the Cube competition is happening this Saturday (Apr. 19) at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, California, where 70 contestants will be twisting their Rubik’s Cubes to be crowned the speediest solver in the U.S.

For host Tyson Mao – who wowed the ladies on season two of Beauty and the Geek with his speedy cube solving skills – the competition is a good opportunity to share his passion with other cubing geeks.

Though he says a mind for math isn’t necessary for solving a Rubik’s Cube, Mao, who has solved a cube in 12.89 seconds, advises newbies to learn from a master.

Says Mao: “Anyone can learn if they have someone to help them. I didn’t learn on my own. My little brother taught me.”
