The 33rd Annual World Championship Pickled Quail Egg Eating Contest is going down in Grand Prairie, Texas, on April 12, in which 12 contestants attempt to swallow as many quail eggs as possible in 60 seconds.
Pickled quail eggs are the size of a giant olive and are considered a delicacy, and although they go well with an ice cold beer, the quirky competition leaves no time for drinking.
Event creator Allan Hughes says, Drinking during the contest takes up too much time. The only thing is that quail eggs have more yolk, which dries up on you pretty quick.
Last years winner, however, has perfected a unique technique in which he swallows the eggs whole, allowing him to set a world record of downing 42 eggs in 60 seconds.
But what the audience really wants to see is vomit.
Hughes says, Its part of the romance. Everyone stands there hoping someone pukes, and someone usually does.
