Toilet Flushing A Germ Trap

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Flushing the toilet can be a nasty experience.

Foot Flush International wants to make flushing the toilet a less dangerous chore with the Foot Flush, a hands-free pedal that flushes the toilet when stepped on.

Company spokesperson Kathy Schomburg says the potty pedal helps seniors and children flush without toppling over and injuring themselves.

But it’s the invisible threats that people need to worry about most.

Schomburg says, “I’ve done so much research on bathroom germs, and there are more germs on the handle than on the seat and in the toilet itself. There is no way of keeping that handle clean.”

According to Schomburg, toilet handles can cause stomach illnesses, strep throat, or almost any other virus, so it’s better to avoid the handles all together, which can be a refreshing experience.

She says, “The minute you step on the Foot Flush you think to yourself, ‘Man, that’s the way flushing should be.’”
