Bring Easter (Mar. 23) Back To The Basics

SOUTHLAKE, Texas. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – This Easter Sunday (Mar. 23), ditch the sweet treats and get back to basics.

Dr. Eileen Silva is a Naturopathic doctor who says traditional, sugary Easter snacks like chocolate eggs, jellybeans, and Peeps are not just unhealthy, but habit forming.

The health expert cites “Easter Egg Syndrome,” as the addictive, unhealthy diet formed when kids “eat their way through the holidays.”

To stay healthy – and wholesome – Silva suggests skipping the sugar and bringing your family together by reading Easter stories, and says, “Parents are doing their children a tremendous disservice by substituting candy for the true meaning of Easter.”

When it comes to snacks, Silva suggests kids make “cut- outs” – crescent rolls and puff pastries made into different Easter shapes with a cookie cutter.

And instead of chocolate eggs, Silva says, “Eat real eggs. They’re one of God’s perfect foods. What a novel idea!”
